Welcome to Pura Pickleball Sports Club!
Never played pickleball before, or need a refresher on the rules of pickleball?
Not to worry, we have you covered.
Basic Rules of Pickleball:
1. Court and Equipment
Played on a badminton-sized court (20×44 feet) with a net similar to tennis but lower. Players use paddles and a perforated plastic ball.
2. Serve:
Made underhand, diagonally across the court, and must land in the opposite diagonal court. It must clear the non-volley zone (the kitchen).
3. Scoring:
Only the serving team can score points. Games are typically played to 11 points, and a team must win by 2 points.
4. Double Bounce Rule:
The ball must bounce once on each side of the net before players can start volleying (hitting the ball before it bounces).
5. Non-Volley Zone (Kitchen):
Players cannot volley the ball (hit it in the air) while standing in the non-volley zone, which is a 7-foot area on both sides of the net.
6. Faults:
Points end with a fault, which occurs when the ball is hit out of bounds, into the net, or a player violates the non-volley zone rule.
7. Game Play:
Matches can be singles or doubles, with the same rules applying to both formats.
8. Have Fun:
Most importantly, enjoy your time on the court! Pickleball is a game meant to bring joy, fitness, and camaraderie.
